Hot, Hot, Hot, feeling Hot, Hot Hot....

yup, it is July and it should come as no surprise that we are in the middle of yet another heat wave, must be the 20th this summer. Needless to say I am not happy with this, I swell up so I look like a whale, and now the very top of my thighs touch just enough to make it practically impossible to wear skirts. I don't know how women do it, I never knew this before as I have always been on the thin side, but now I am noticing women everywhere clearly with entire length of their thighs rubbing together, but still manage to wear skirts, wonder what the secret is (?). I will be joining the gym at my new job as soon as I feel like I have enough energy to crawl over there after work. Right now all I can do is drag my ass home and sit in the living room with the AC full blast and down gazillion iced vodkas every night, soon I'll be calling Betty Ford....

I've been very good and chaste for months, it is amazing how getting fat keeps one on the straight and narrow, another thing I never knew. Live and learn I suppose...

My nephew is not going to be named Daniel after all, and is now known as Bjarni Thor after our father. He would have been so pleased, and I am glad because there will be no more children to carry his name. The little one is thriving and has gorgeous red hair and is meek as a lamb, unlike his bossy big sister who is very annoyed at his apparent lack of desire to learn things from her, "he is so lazy, just sleeps all day..."

Oh happy day!!!!
Today is the first day in the life of Daniel Thor, my brand new nephew. He bounced into the world almost as fast as his very impatient older sister. He is 61/2 lbs and 20" 'tall'. We are of course thrilled to bits but also sad that we can't be there, but Norway is too far to go.

On another note, I escaped from the crazy gig in midtown but it took 6 months (!) I now have another temp thing going at a much better place, but terrible office environment. I guess there is no way to have it all, after all. I sit in a little windowless basment cube with mice and water bugs running around, but the people are super nice and no one ever says ax as a mean of questioning something. Apparently this used to be a morgue about a 100 years ago and there are reports of sightings of a bona-fide ghost who apprently likes to just 'hang' around. I haven't seen him, but I wish he would try to clean up a little, typical men!! Instead I find myself practically doing the River Dance routine to stomp out the pesky little critters, and wipe everything down with Lysol to get rid of the mouse droppings (Hanta Virus anyone?).

It is hot, hot, hot and humid and horrible, which is especially awful since there was hardly any spring this year. One week I am shivering in a fleece jacket and the next struggling to istall the air conditioner. But this too shall pass and hopefully I'll find myself gainfully employed by fall.
